She knows how important it is as a parent to feel your child is growing, learning and loved in a safe and fun environment. Annie and her husband Matt enjoy spending time with their four boys ages 17, 14, 12 and 8.  They spend most of their time watching the boys play football, soccer, basketball and tennis or hanging at the beach!

Mrs. Ashby-Martin hails from the Commonwealth of Kentucky where she grew up understanding the value of dedication and hard work. Brandi was named Miss Kentucky Basketball in 1993 and continued her passion as a division one student athlete at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. After completing her BS in psychology, Brandi went on to play professionally in European leagues.

With determination, Brandi began teaching and working on her graduate degree. Specializing in learning and behavioral disorders, Brandi finished her Master of Education from Murray State University in Kentucky. Applying the same principles of hard work and practice, she went on to also collect teaching certifications in Kentucky, Alabama, and Florida. Deemed a highly effective teacher in the state of Florida for seven years, Brandi has been the recipient of the Best and Brightest teacher recognition award, earned a reading endorsement and ALICE safe schools instructor certification.

Having been a teacher now for 15 years, Brandi’s experience ranges from 5th to 12th grade. Along the way she taught middle school math (alongside Ms. Abadie), unique skills, critical thinking, high school intensive reading, yoga, PE, critical thinking, and a self-contained special education EBD class. She is still excited to walk into the classroom every day and values the connections she has with her students above all.  Brandi understands what it feels like to struggle, and this type of empathy (along with plenty of tough love and lessons learned) is what she feels most proud of and credits with her success as a teacher and leader.

When she’s not Ms. Martin at school, Brandi is a wife to Jay Martin, a mother to seventh grade twin girls, Bella Jay and Blair Jean, 5th grade son, Colt, and stepmother to fantastic adults, Kali and Philip. She wishes she had more free time—but when she does get a few minutes to herself, Brandi enjoys watching true crime documentaries, reading nonfiction, and working in her flowerbeds. Above all else, Brandi strives to provide your family with the same love, care, education and sense of belonging that paved her way to happiness and accomplishment.
